LG did not have any new tablets to show at CES 2012, but it still had one in the wings as the mobile maker today announced its first LTE tablet, the Optimus Pad LTE.
Just like its predecessor, the G-Slate, the Optimus Pad LTE will sport a 8.9-inch 1280 x 768 IPS display along with a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processer. The Pad LTE will ship with Honeycomb 3.2 and it's all but guaranteed t receive an Android Ice Cream Sandwich update, just like the Xoom.
Other specs inlude an 8-megapixel rear- and 2-megapxiel front-facing shooters, microSD card slot up to 32GB, HDMI and DLNA certification, and a 6,800mAh battery. Of course, it will support both Wi-Fi and LTE data. It will measure 245 x 151.4 x 9.34 mm and weigh 497 g.
We suspect the Optimus Pad LTE is not all LG has lined up in the tablet space for early 2012. The specs are decidely last-gen, especially when quad-core processers are quickly becoming the standard. Also, there is no word on if this device will arrive Stateside. Mobile World Congress is little more than one month away, and it wold provide a great launching pad for a new and more powerful Optimus Pad.
