Android Tablet Reviews: Honeycomb OS

Bookmark and Share

Android Honeycomb is the current Google Android OS. It is only designed for Tablet PCs and therefore is optimized with more features and benefits that you would normally find in a regular smartphone running on Froyo or gingerbread.

The honeycomb has received a dramatic improvement in comparison with ginger in several respects. One of the most obvious examples is improved in honeycomb applications. Many of the native Android applications have been completely rethought and improved, such as e-mail, browser, android market, Google Talk and YouTube.

Electronic mail. The applications of electronic mail (Gmail and everything else) use a system of two panels. So is perusing the Inbox and several folders much easier. In addition these applications use a new API open to all devs called "fragments" that allow the sliding panels. This means that the left pane begins to enumerate all folders available for that email account, but when to choose something from the right panel, that slides on the left and replaces the list of folders. So on the right side, I can now see the thread of all electronic mail or complete chat requested extraction up to, and I can see the whole conversation.

Browser. The biggest improvement is tabbed browsing. It is not necessary to press a button of the browser menu to see all open Windows. It is only presented as the Chrome browser in your computer, the action bar showing several pieces that can easily be changed.

Android Market. "My apps" section shows a list of all applications you have downloaded, updated or installed. You can dictate if the apps will have updates installed automatically and you can open each individual application directly from this section. This announcement of my Apps also notices if all updates are available, keeps me informed of the progress of the download and installation and is easy to navigate.

Google Talk. The integration of Google Talk app and native video chat makes comfortable and accessible so that anyone can use it. Even if you have a Tablet and not of his business partner, they have only sign on Google Talk on your computer and you're all ready for a good video chat.

YouTube. The YouTube app was built with Renderscript and is easy due to the extra facts here 3D representations. The application is configured as a grid with multiple rows and columns, but the move towards the left or right this grid curves with displacement, acting as if outside a carousel.

With its enhanced applications, Honeycomb has been the biggest jump Android has taken in its growth and development since that came out of the operating system. He has made Android much more intelligent in the process. As a result, honeycomb will be Android Tablet PCs much more competitive with the iPad than existing Android devices running earlier versions of the Android software.
