Amazon introduced its highly anticipated Tablet, Kindle fire

Amazon.com recently introduced the much talked about tablet Kindle Fire, a 7-inch tablet available at $199. The tablet has great potential to compete against iPad with its multi-touch functions running on Android OS, which has been exclusively reworked for the Kindle. Along with the tablets, the retailer has also unveiled a new line of Kindle covers with a $149 Kindle Touch 3G, a $99 Kindle Touch without 3G, and a non-touch $79 Kindle.

During the launch Jezz Bezos, CEO of Amazon.com, said, "We don't think of the Kindle Fire as a tablet. We think of it as a service."

The new Kindle tablet has 8GB of storage and over 8 hours of battery life with free cloud storage and Wi-Fi. According to some sources, the Amazon Tablet is expected to be instant success as the consumers might find it hard to resist the low priced tablet. Data from eDataSource, which tracks consumer purchases, reveals that the tablet has already gained a good momentum with over 95,000 pre-orders in the first 24 hours of its announcement.

New Kindle covers are specially designed to protect the tablet against wear and tear. The stylish and cheap covers are available for pre-order.


Zip Sleeve, Charcoal: It is a simple yet stylist zip-up cover designed to protect the tablet Fire against scuffs and scratches. The lightweight cover is available in multiple colors and priced at $29.99.

Leather Cover by Marware, Black: A leather cover lined with soft microsuede protects the tablet against scratches and impact. The cover, priced at $44.99, also serves as a convenient stand for viewing or display.

MicroShell Folio Cover by Marware, White: It is the thinnest and lightest protective cover for the Kindle Fire with thin, hard polycarbonate back-piece and a soft front lid that functions as a fold-behind stand for hands free viewing or display. The cover is available at $39.99.

Belkin Verve Tab Folio, Black: It is a stylist leather-like cover with magnetic tab closure that helps protect your Kindle from scratches and scuffs. It has a smooth faux leather exterior and a soft inner lining against the screen and is priced at $29.99.

Amazon plans to launch new version of Kindle tablet having 10-inch touchscreen in Q1 2012. With Apple's iPad having a market share of 70-80%, it is going to be a tough competition for Amazon's Kindle.
