ZAGG Announces What Could be the Solution to Lousy Tablet Speakers

One of our pet peeves at TabletPCReview is the sorry state of onboard tablet speakers. They are universally lousy. Thankfully, ZAGG unveiled what could be an affordable solution: the Boost Speaker by iFrogz.

For $39.99, the iFrogz Boost Speaker amplifies tablet or eReader speakers. Users simply place their tablet, smartphone, or any other device equipped with an external speaker, on top of the Boost in order to amplify the sound. The Boost Speaker does not require any cords or Bluetooth synching.

The Boost is compact as it measures a little over an inch high by about 3 inches wide and less than 5 inches long. The device also weighs about 5.9 ounces, without batteries. The speaker provides users with up to 15 hours of play time when powered by three AA batteries or by a microUSB cord that is sold separately. When on battery power, the Boost can remain in standby mode for up to 6 months.

Can it improve tablet sound output? We'll see as we are expecting a unit for a full review.
