Oh, I don't mean tablets as medication or anything of the sort, if that's what you think I mean. I'm thinking more along the lines of Tablet Laptops/PCs.
I've noticed that there has been a rapid rise of Tablet laptops and PCs in the market. Ever since Apple released their iPad, seems that other companies have took to their drawing boards to come up with their own tablet laptops/PCs (or Tablets), even though there are companies that came out with their Tablets even before Apple released the iPad.
What makes Tablets more interesting than the common laptops and netbooks? Well, for one thing, it's smaller than the conventional laptop, even the netbook. All the conveniences of your laptop or desktop are there.
If you ask me, it's a rather novel idea. I particularly love the ease and the fact that it is inconspicuous (for the smaller models) on your lap. It's also a tool that can help you be better organized, if you're the type who takes down notes a lot.
As is the case with the iPad, there are numerous, and I mean numerous, applications that may be installed aside from those that are already built-in. You could choose what you'll need or want from a wide selection of applications that Apple has available.
The Tablet has gained popularity because of the additional portability it provides, as well as a little bit more ease when it comes to typing or storing notes. You may enter data either by a tablet pen or your voice (which as a feature with some models).
You may use the Tablet almost anywhere, even while standing in line at the grocery or walking, lounging on a chair, and it may also be used in the car. The basic point is that it affords you increased mobility. Try to imagine yourself standing in line or walking while fiddling with your laptop. It's just not a good idea.
When Tablet PCs first came out, it was all about business, meaning, the features were targeted to meet with a consumer's needs for his/her business or work, while offering something that the conventional laptop couldn't. Now, there is still that goal but with a few or a lot of added bonuses thrown in.
Take the case of the newer Tablets. People are waiting to see and maybe try out for themselves the added features these have compared to the ones that are already out. Some of these people are tech-addicts. They are the ones who line up just to grab the latest innovative gadget. We shouldn't act like we must have the latest model all the time (These are hard times now, sothink of all the money you'd be wasting!).
My final take? While it may offer the best performance and range of use, the Tablet can only be as effective as the needs of the person. In other words, it still may not be suited for everybody.
