Historically the Christmas holidays are made to pull the plug, and to focus on suffering, joy and serenity on the familiar and friendly. But since we always interconnected in this habit if they are replacing another, which leads us to open our professional e-mail account and working as if we were not at Christmas.
Need to keep the super-updated on everything and not lose any information useful to attend jobs, projects and activities.
The Infographics of Socialcast here annex shows a cross-section of what has happened in the United States in 2010. More than half the people you are connected and have interacted on the net for work purposes. The activity has been lower than normal work but there has been steady. Less posts, less interaction, but the presence in check/publications of news and novelties and constant presence in reading.
According to Socialcast these activities were motivated by the need to keep up-to-date in real-time to mitigate and prepare for possible emergencies occurring to return from vacation.
It will be interesting to publish next year a similar socialcst. Easy to predict that the percentage could be increased from 50 to 75%. The crisis situation, the unknowns on the health of businesses and on any decisions gained for the beginning of the year in terms of staff cuts, reorganizations, relocation etc. are all good reasons to not detach ever, even at Christmas and keep constantly updated through the company sites and the mailbox but also among colleagues with resources and web tools.
