Toshiba released the ultra-thin AT200 tablet today in the U.K. This same device, under the moniker the Excite X10, will be released in the United States at a later date. Those looking to purchase the tablet can do so exclusively through Carphone Warehouse’s website.
Customers can purchase the AT200 for £399 (about $630) for the 16GB model and £449 (about $710) for the 32GB model. While the tablet is available today for online purchase, those looking to pick up the AT200 themselves will have to wait until February 15.
Toshiba AT200 Preview
Toshiba is calling the device the world’s thinnest 10.1-inch tablet, and it measures just 0.3 inches thin and weighs in at slightly less than 1.2 pounds. It features a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 display, a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor, and 1GB of RAM. The AT200 has a 5MP rear-facing camera as well as a 1.3MP front-facing camera.
The biggest surprise about the tablet is that it will ship running Android Honeycomb (3.2) and not Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0). However, Toshiba did announce that the AT200 will receive the ICS update at a later time. A release date has yet to be announced by the company.
TabletPCReview was able to get a hands-on preview with the American version of the tablet, the Excite X10, at CES 2012, which you can read here.
