Milano, December 21, 2011 – according to a new world-scale research commissioned by Citrix, secure the exponential growth of jobs in mobile mode is the first step to drive a significant increase in demand for desktop virtualization in the next two years.
The 55% of companies surveyed expect to implement new desktop virtualization implementations for the first time by 2013, with the 86% who cite security as the main driver. The main factors driving this growth include:
• safer Access for mobile devices and personal users
• improvements in the safety of data and applications
• agility and Ease in managing the business for the mobile workforce continues to grow
• simplified risk management
"Desktop virtualization offers centralized control and management of desktops, applications and data distributed to any endpoint device. It also offers extensive access control policy-based and supports compliance requirements. The other main benefits identified by IT decision makers include provisioning and de-provisioning of application and immediate access to the desktop for 60%, a Flash application isolation compromised by malfunctions for 54% and the ability to delete data remotely from cell phones and PCs for 32%.
The 86% of respondents believe that desktop virtualization provides a strategic approach to improving information security, regardless of the intention to use the desktop virtualization in your organization.
Of IT decision-makers who have implemented desktop virtualization by the end of 2013, the 95% considered very effective in the protection of information, while offering employees quick access to information they need. The 97% also believes that the desktop virtualization can help your organization to respond more incisive to new security threats and emerging.
Device-level benefits
Device level, 74% of senior managers of the decisions IT intends to use the desktop virtualization for instant updating of an entire business system of PC and device and 66% cites the distribution of applications and data between critical security capabilities that encourage implementation of desktop virtualization. Compliance requirements are a key factor for 61% of respondents cited access management, while 53% showed activity monitoring, recording and reporting of the most important capabilities offered by desktop virtualization.
"Man as the desktop virtualization evolves and is implemented by organizations around the world, increases awareness of the benefits it offers in terms of information security," said Roemer. "Today we look at desktop virtualization as a strategic investment that becomes an essential element of an organization's IT infrastructure."
Infrastructure-level benefits
The 91% of IT decision-makers that implement desktop virtualization praises the effectiveness in support of compliance requirements. The 89% also States that such solutions promote the protection of personal data and prevent loss.
Centralized control and policy-based capillary is favored by desktop virtualization and allows IT to proactively manage compliance with rules or regulations, allowing an organization to develop an information security strategy appropriate to their market, the needs of business and risk profile.
The sample sizes
The search for Citrix Security Index, which was conducted by Vanson Bourne society independent in October 2011, 1100 IT professionals involved in eleven markets.
