The most famous Indian tablet for the incredible price of 35 dollars (1750 Indian rupees), known as Askash, is finally available for all Indian students, thanks to the Indian Government that decided to facilitate the diffusion of new technologies in schools.
The device was made available on the market at a slightly higher price of $ 45/47 (2999 rupees).
The original device was powered by a 7-inch touchscreen resistive type with a resolution by 800x400 pixels, an Android 2.2 operating system, a processor Connexant from 366MHz, 256 MB RAM and 2 GB of internal memory.
The tablet also has a slot for external memory card 32 GB, Wi-Fi and USB dueporte. The battery has a maximum duration of 3 hours.
The tablel already exists, a new updated version named UbiSlate with a Cortex processor 700 MHz, 8 from and a 3200 mAh more SIM/phone functionality.
The English manufacturer of tablet, Datawind UK, announced that the tablet will be available as UbiSlate7.
At the moment on the tablet will not be available on Android application marketplace. The tablet comes with some pre-installed applications. Other applications can be downloaded from the governmental portal www.Sakshat.ac.in.
Initial production is limited to 700 tablet per day.
The Indian Government's plans are to produce 100,000 tablet for delivery in the State language schools (3000 for each State). If your project is successful the Indian Ministry of public administration has planned to provide a tablet every Indian student, including elementary school students in the class of 9-12 years of age.
The tablet has already generated international interest and for this reason the plans are to increase production capacity to 300,000-400,000 production units per month.
